Today I have some tips to share on growing carrots. I planted the ones shown below last year and then left them in the ground over the winter. This is a great way to “store” your carrots and has the advantage of keeping them crunchy and improving their flavor as they get sweeter over time. This is an heirloom variety of carrot called Chantenay that originates from France. They are a short, stubby variety that works well in raised beds and containers. Another nice feature of this type of carrot is that doesn’t need to be peeled. Just wash and serve fresh, or use in your favorite recipes.
